TOP 10 Memoiral Statues

Last month we did a Top 10 NBA statue list. This month, with the 4th of July, we thought we would do a Top 10 Veteran Memorial statue list! There were so many different statues that all told amazing stories. Picking just 10 was a big challenge.

Let’s get Started!

Number ten is the Veteran’s War and Dog Memorial in Houma Louisiana. Not only does is remember all those who have fought and continue to fight in the Iraq war, it also recognizes the K9’s that help the soldiers as well.

Next up, number nine. This is statue is named Praying for a Fallen Soldier. It’s housed in the city of Kelliher in Minnesota. Around the base it recognizes each branch of the United States service.

Our number 8 is The Three Servicemen Statue. It is a memorial for the Vietnam war and shows the different races involved in the war. In the Vietnam war this was quite the controversy but the piece depicts how each person played a significant role.

This statue can be found in Washington, D.C.

Moving on to our #7, this is a more known piece. The Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. is one of most visited statue on our list. It depicts soldiers in big rain coats and some even holding walkie talkies. There are over 10 statues in this piece.

This photo provided by Hope For The Warriors shows a sculpture dedicated to wounded soldiers after its unveiling at Marine Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014. The sculpture is based on a photograph of two lance corporals carrying an injured sergeant out of a house a decade ago in Fallujah, Iraq. The artwork was sponsored by Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit that assists wounded members of the military and their families. Our number 6 is a more recent piece. This statue is named No Man Left Behind and is a memorial for all those fighting in Iraq but more specifically the Marines. The Hope For The Warriors organization played a huge role in making this statue a reality.

The statue can be found in Battalion Camp Pendleton California.

Next is our number 5. This statue stands at over 18 feet tall in Fort Drum, New York. It depicts a soldier helping another soldier with a rope. The statue is a World World II memorial.

Taking our number 4 spot is this emotional piece. This statue, called The Homecoming, was created as a memorial for the Navy and their long time away at sea. We love the expression and relief on the wife’s face and the joy of the little boy.

What a happy reunion indeed. This statue is placed in Kirkland Washington.

Starting off our top 3, this statue is different than most. Named, Vietnam Women’s Memorial, it stands for all the Women who fought or served as nurses in the war. There are very few war memorial statues that are of women in the war, but, they are getting more and more popular. This statue can also be found in Washington, D.C.

Our number 2 is a classic. She had to be in the top somewhere. This is, of course, the Statue of Liberty, but did you know her real name is Liberty Enlightening the World? Not many do. Found in Liberty Island, New York, Lady Liberty.

Last, but not least, is our number one.

A huge part of our nation’s history, the statue depicts what happened in Iwo Jima. It’s official name is Marine Corps War. Also one of a more well known statue piece on our list, we love that the soldiers have come together to raise the flag and the saying on the front of the base, “Uncommon valor was a common virtue.” This statue can be found in Arlington, Virginia.
