Louis is one of our valued team members here at Big Statues. Every day he comes to work smiling and upbeat, ready to create stunning, handcrafted bronze statues. His work is amazing, but his journey to becoming a sculptor is anything but ordinary.

An Unexpected Start in Dentistry

Louis has always been artistic, but when he first started university, he wasn’t studying art,he was studying dentistry. In dental school, one of his assignments was to create perfect replicas of teeth. It was here that his natural talent for detailed sculpting began to shine.

Louis’s replicas were so good that other students started to take notice. Before long, word spread, and he was selling his custom-crafted tooth replicas to over 80 fellow students. That’s when Louis had a life-changing realization: while he respected the dental profession, his real interest wasn’t fixing teeth, it was sculpting them.

Making the Leap to Art School

With that clarity, Louis made a bold decision to leave dental school and pursue art full-time. He enrolled in art school, where he refined his sculpting skills and explored working with new materials, including clay, plaster, and eventually bronze.

Today, Louis’s background in precision dental work still influences his sculpting. Every curve, texture, and detail in his bronze statues is shaped with the same meticulous care he once used to craft tiny tooth replicas.
