This custom bronze bust honors Charles C. Rich, an influential pioneer and early leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose work helped shape communities across the American West.
In 1863, Rich was asked to explore and help settle the Bear Lake Valley along the Utah–Idaho border. Under his leadership, pioneers established communities throughout the region, including Paris, Idaho, which became an important center of settlement in the valley. Rich County, Utah, and St. Charles, Idaho, also carry his name and reflect his lasting influence in the area.
The bronze portrait preserves Rich’s likeness and commemorates his role in the history and development of the Bear Lake region. The sculpture stands outside the historic Paris Idaho Tabernacle, connecting his legacy with the community he helped establish.
Created by Big Statues, the piece demonstrates how a custom bronze bust can preserve the story of a community leader and create a lasting connection between history, place, and future generations.
